Food ordering voice assistant

In our latest video, Voicify demonstrates a voice food ordering assistant and shares some insight on trends around the restaurant industry.

There has been one clear winner among the many challenges the restaurant industry has endured over the last few years. Food delivery, as a category, experienced explosive growth through 2020 and 2021. Today, nearly half of Americans order food online, and the worldwide food delivery market will reach a staggering $320B by 2029. However, the pandemic was only a tailwind in a much larger trend in platform to consumer services like DoorDash, Grubhub, and others that make up the convenience economy.

While the food delivery companies continue to see impressive growth, ordering directly from restaurants has not entirely gone out of style. According to the National Restaurant Association’s 2021 State of The Restaurant Industry Mid-Year update, US consumers prefer ordering food directly from the restaurant when given a choice. Restaurants also adapted rapidly during the pandemic. According to the same report, 81% of fine, 78% of family, and 77% of fast-casual restaurants added curbside takeout to their operations in 2020. Nearly half added food delivery options.

But no matter how you slice it, food delivery is here to stay; in 2021, 53% of the survey respondents and 64% of millennials said food delivery and takeout are “essential to the way they live.”

That’s why it’s no surprise that some of the world’s largest and best-known food service and delivery brands are investing heavily in food ordering innovations to decrease costs and improve customer experience. Introducing custom voice assistants built on a modern conversational AI platform can achieve both of these goals.

At Voicify, the team is working with some of the most prominent players in the restaurant industry to imagine an ordering process that is faster, more accurate, and less costly than the alternatives. Together, we’re creating intelligent conversational assistants that can be deployed anywhere and understand every order, every time.

Video: The voice food ordering experience

In this video, we demonstrate the capabilities of one of our ordering modules, explicitly designed for pizza restaurants. We show how well a Voicify conversational agent handles a swiftly spoken, large, complex order better than most humans could. We also demonstrate how seamlessly and organically it responds to a last-minute change request. Finally, we show how simple it can be to transact with a voice/conversational AI post-configuration using default settings for delivery address and transactional costs.

This demo also showcases an implementation of our custom voice assistant technology, in this case, delivered with a web browser. The organizations that create assistants like this can provide the assistant across in-home smart speakers, a native, enterprise-owned mobile application, and via the brand’s website using Voicify’s create once, deploy everywhere platform, but that’s only the beginning. Limited only by their imagination, with the Voicify API-first architecture, organizations could deploy the same custom voice assistant to chat platforms, social media, or the metaverse.

This capability allows for a consistent customer experience and makes it far easier to manage the organization’s entire custom voice assistant strategy in a single, easy-to-use conversation management system.

Although we’re proud of this demonstration of Voicify natural language understanding, it’s only scratching the surface of what’s possible. A custom voice assistant can understand every order in any language, dialect, or inflection and get it right every time. It’s not just about removing the distraction of answering the phone from resources that could be better leveraged against higher-order goals like improving food quality. Employing a custom ordering assistant also increases the accuracy, predictability, and effectiveness of the ordering experience, thereby improving the overall customer experience.

If you have questions about how a custom voice assistant could improve your customers’ experience, please feel welcome to contact us. We’d love to connect for a no-cost, no-commitment consultation to learn about the problems you’re trying to solve with conversational AI.

What will you Voicify?

Time to talk? We’d love to.
